I personally experience a long dark tea-time of the soul, and more, on this weeks episode of The Regis Jack Experience.
Christmas is not a day, but a time. A time for giving. It’s not a time for giving presents, unless you are celebrating the actual birth of Christ, which is celebrated on December 25 even though that’s not really the day he was born (and that fact is not important for this discussion), then you should be giving presents to him (or her depending on your point of view) only.
And what present could you possibly give to the Son of God? Yourself. Christmas is the time for giving yourself by helping and caring for others regardless of race, religion, color, sex, age, national origin or ancestry, genetic information, marital status, parental status, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, disability, or status as a veteran (all of that is just another way of saying “human”).
And what if we took our Christmas spirit and extended it to every day? Think about it. We could be doing something every single day to help people, to care for people. ALL people. And we could do it every fucking day of the year. That would be the best present of all.
